Lesson Module A-18: Liquid Nitrogen Distribution System - pg 3

A manual valve as well as a pneumatic valve connects the “feed” line to the distribution system which enters the building, crosses the experimental hall floor and feeds the distribution line circling the storage ring mezzanine. The liquid nitrogen is then distributed to each Insertion Device (ID) beam line (35 locations). Each drop has a pneumatic valve to control the flow of LN2 to the user. Components and connections to each drop vary with the user. Pneumatic valves interconnect the lines of the modules so that an individual module may be fed from an alternate source.

Each module has a manual control panel located in a rack on the storage ring mezzanine. These controls are just downstream of the cross over piping from each truck lock area to the LN2 line circling the storage ring mezzanine. Namely, these racks are designated: 7-ID-AR-RR02, 15-ID-AR-RRO2, 23-ID-AR-RR02, and 34-ID-AR-RR02.

NOTE: Manual operation is to be used for testing or in the event that EPICS control fails.

At this time, please review the Operating Procedures for the Liquid Nitrogen Distribution System (LNDS) (Manual Control).
