PSS Serious Fault Reset on Gen 1 Non-Upgraded Beamlines

System: PSS
Period: Any
Event: PSS Trip

A serious fault is caused by shutter or stop position switch misoperation or remote I/O communication failures. These faults will remove ALL shutter (FE and Integral) shutter permits.Under this failure mode, circumstances may exist that could lead to tripping stored beam so caution should be exercised. To reset this fault, the following shall be followed:

If the cause of the fault is a shutter or stop position switch misoperation, check EPICS to see if the problem has corrected itself ( ie. the shutter switches indicate proper position) and reset the fault. If the fault resets, operate the effected shutter several times to assure proper operation.Write an RM&D to the AES/SI group. If fault re-occurs after resetting, call the AES/SI Engineer On Call for instructions on how to proceed. If fault does not reset, call the AES/SI Engineer On Call for instructions on how to proceed.

If a remote I/O communication failure is the cause of the fault, DO NOT RESET the fault and call the AES/SI Engineer On Call for instructions on how to proceed. The communication faults are the faults in those EPICS screens that read, for example, "A_COM1_BLK_FAIL"(Generation 1) or "A Remote I/O Com fail"(Generation 3).
