This furnace was designed and built by Oxy-Gon Industries (https://oxy-gon.com) at the direction of APS and ANL-NE scientists through a lab-funded LDRD project. It provides the ability to heat activated samples while also pulling them in uniaxial tension. It is compatible with high-energy x-ray experiments at APS beamline 1-ID-E. Tension is provided by an MTS 15kN load frame which this can be attached to as an insert. Limited sample rotation through an in-grip rotation is also possible.
