Argonne Guest House

A block of rooms has been reserved at a special rate for this meeting at the Argonne Guest House, which is located about 300 yards from the APS Conference Center.

In order to guarantee your room at the Guest House, you must contact the Guest House with a credit card.  Cancellation policy is 6:00 pm on the day of arrival, unless the reception desk is notified (e.g., in case of flight delays). Check-in time is 3:00 pm; check-out time is noon.

The cut-off date for reservations at the special meeting rate is February 28, 2019.  The single rate is $91.50 plus 5% room occupancy tax. To receive the meeting rate, mention "Kwang-Je Fest or Coherence in particle photon beams” when you make your reservation. If you do not receive confirmation of your request, please follow up by telephone at 1-630-739-6000.

Additional Hotels

A number of other hotels are located relatively close to Argonne. Many can be found by a search on Lemont, Illinois. No special rates have been established for these hotels, and shuttle transportation will not be provided.

Transportation
Public transportation is not easily accessible from the laboratory. While transportation is not needed for on-site events, your mobility offsite will be limited unless you have a car rental.

Argonne National Laboratory is about 45 minutes by car from each of the two major Chicago airports, O'Hare and Midway (see Google map of area and detailed map of Lab). Limousine service is available from each airport, and major car rental agencies serve both airports.

By car from O'Hare Airport: Drive east (toward Chicago) on Interstate 190 to the exit for Interstate 294 south (toward Indiana). Go south on Interstate 294 to the exit for Interstate 55 south (toward St. Louis); then take the southbound Cass Avenue exit (273A) off Interstate 55. Northgate Road, the entrance to the Laboratory's main gate, is on the right.

By car from Midway Airport: Take Cicero Avenue north to the entrance to Interstate 55 south (toward St. Louis), which will be on your left, then proceed as described above.

By public transportation: With careful planning, it is possible to travel to Argonne by public transportation. The Metra Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) line runs from downtown to Chicago to Westmont, about 5 miles from the Lab and then a taxi must be arranged in advance
