Lincosamides are naturally occurring antibiotics that are effective against a variety of different types of bacterial infections. Researchers used X-rays to understand why sulfur plays such an important role in the action of this effective class of antibiotics. The work provides insights that may lead to new paradigms for antibiotic development.
