Using Electronic Equipment

If you intend to bring any electronic equipment to the Structural Science beamlines, you must follow the APS guidelines outlined at the page below:

User Electronic and Electrical Equipment Inspection Criteria

Some electrical equipment does not require an inspection from a qualified Designated Electrical Equipment Inspector (DEEI). Specifically, equipment that is manufactured by a Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory (NRTL) certified company is exempt from inspection. The following link has examples of the currently accepted NRTL markings:

OSHA Typical Registered Certification Marks

Note: The European Conformity (or CE mark) is not sufficient for the electrical equipment inspection exemption.

The device must have additional approved NRTL markings before it is considered exempt. If you are uncertain if your equipment requires inspection, please contact your beamline contact person for assistance.

Note: If your equipment requires inspection and does not pass, if it cannot be brought into compliance, you will not be allowed to use it.
