About the Users' Executive Committee
The Advanced Photon Source Users' Executive Committee (APS UEC) is an elected body that is responsible for advising the APS Associate Laboratory Director in the following areas:
- The Committee will serve as an advocacy group for the Facility and its user community.
- The Committee will provide advice to the ALD on matters affecting the user community.
- The Committee will assure good communication between the APS user community and the APS management.
APS Users' Executive Committee Value Statement
The APS Users' Executive Committee Steering Committee (APS UEC SC) strives to support and represent the voices of all users from all scientific endeavors: the APS user community has a voice through the APS UEC SC. Any questions, comments or concerns can be shared through Ask the APS UEC.

UEC Connect
APS User Executive Committee (UEC) members have a unique perspective on the scientific output of the Advanced Photon Source (APS) and are a tremendous resource for helping users and potential users understand the kinds of science questions one could investigate using the facility’s ultrabright X-ray beams. Specific technical aspects of the experiment you plan to conduct, such as experimental details and techniques, should always be directed to the appropriate beamline scientist. However, UEC members have a wealth of scientific experience to draw from in using the APS, and they can help other researchers shape their thinking about what’s possible in synchrotron science.
Check out the Q&A link below some of the profiles to learn more about the kinds of research UEC members have conducted and the beamlines they used to do it.
