The multi-bend achromat storage-ring of the APS upgrade requires 1000 unipolar power supplies. These power supplies have stability and precision requirements far greater than our existing storage-ring supplies. Two commercial supply approaches are being considered. We will discuss the challenges and the R&D effort to evaluate these commercial supplies as well as to develop an independent precision current measurement system.
