SynRad and MolFlow+ are free Windows/Mac based programs for 3D analysis of accelerator vacuum systems. The programs were created and are maintained by Roberto Kersevan and Marton Ady of CERN's Vacuum Technology group. SynRad uses Monte Carlo methods to predict synchrotron radiation distributions within 3D models. MolFlow+ also uses Monte Carlo methods to predict ultra-high vacuum pressures within a vacuum system. The two programs can be coupled to predict photon stimulated desorption outgassing loads which define the pressures within accelerator vacuum systems.
This seminar will provide an overview of the two programs and their capabilities. Two examples of coupled analyses performed for the APS-Upgrade storage ring and SuperKEKB Upgrade storage ring will be discussed in detail.
