Research interests: Uses X-ray scattering, spectroscopy and imaging to understand function and synthesis of materials used for energy storage (Li-ion batteries) and transformation (solar absorbers and modules) and in materials synthesis. Current position: SLAC distinguished staff scientist and Head of SSRL synchrotron materials sciences division. Term: November 2017 - March 2020
