System: Beamline Front-End Shutters (FES/PS2) Period: Machine Studies Event: Machine Studies requiring beamline FES/PS2 to be open Machine Studies requiring any beamline shutters (PS2/FES) be open (excluding ASD operated beamlines) require approval. Requests for shutter open studies will be approved in the following way: - Randy Flood, Lisa Berkland (ASD-MCR), or alternate, will submit the request to Nena Moonier (AES-UES) at least one day before the schedule is officially posted. Wendy VanWingeren (AES-UES) will act as Nena's alternate.
- Concurrence with beamline staff the affected beamline(s) on opening the FES is required. If, for any reason, the shutter cannot be opened during that period, studies will not be scheduled. These studies have a direct relationship to the quality of the beam delivered, so it is in the best interest of the beamline involved to allow the studies to take place.
- EFOG will verify scope of study is covered under the beamline commissioning ESAF. If it is not, an ESAF will be created to cover the specific studies.
In preparation for the study: - Physicist in Charge: Provide MCR Operations and Experiment Floor Operations with list of beamlines that will be permitted to open during the study.
- Experiment Floor Operations (FCs): Close all PS2 shutters and remove A Station APS Enable on all beamlines for which are not part of the approved study with shutters open. When complete, report to the MCR Operators.
After completion of the study: - ACIS shutter permit for beamlines should be removed (excluding ASD operating beamlines).
- Experiment Floor Operations: Restore APS Enable to those stations from which it was removed.
