Description

Abstract:

Software containers provide practical benefits across APS, including isolated environments for AI agents, streamlined data processing workflows, simplified support for legacy vendor software, and reproducible EPICS IOC deployment. Through a collaboration among ASD, AES, and XSD, Podman is now available on most APS Linux systems, including support for NVIDIA GPUs. The team also deployed configurations that make containers usable with little or no additional user setup and enabled the APS GitLab container registry to simplify software deployment to beamline private networks and ALCF. This seminar will introduce these new APS container capabilities and share practical guidance for anyone interested in building, deploying, or managing containers at APS.
