I would like to know which operating system do you guys use as the IOCs, and also on client machines? And why? Do you switch off GUI on IOCs? Do you use virtual systems? And how do such systems influence the overall performance? As for me, I'm currently using linux-x86 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5) run on a Virtual Machine, and win32-x86 (WinXP sp3) as a host system. I want to put aside the virtualized linux system for awhile and install it as host. Am thinking about CentOS, since RHEL is not fully freeware. Am I right in presuming that the Windows platform is more suitable for clients (CSS) rather than soft IOCs? Any input would be greatly appreciated! -- Best regards, Pavel Maslov, MS Controls Engineer at Pulsed power Lab D.V.
