Mark,

I am currently in the process of testing a shared memory approach to this
problem. What we are doing is using a dll to implement an interface to a
shared memory database. With this is an IOC that runs with labView on
windows. The shared memory is configured by the IOC from the IOC's database
when it starts up and then labView can access the variables in the shared
memory database by loading the dll. There is device support for
ai,ao,longin, longout and waveform (in). The in-memory data types can be
long, float, or double for any of the supported record types. I also have
implemented a means to simulate interrupts across the dll, pass time stamps
with the interrupts, and buffer the data so that the IOC can run
asynchronously with labView. The buffering is what I am testing now.

If interested, let me know and we can see how to share this, admittedly it
is very "alpha" right now.
