We use RHEL 6.3 on many of our workstations here at APS with no problems, so I 
would expect SL6.3 to be equally well supported since it's built from the same 
source RPMs.

Most of our systems are natively 64-bit, but we still have 32-bit systems too 
so we actually build both in our production areas.  Some code may not have 
been converted to build properly for 64-bit, so in those cases the 64-bit 
machines can run the 32-bit binaries (as long as they have the OS's 32-bit 
compatibility libraries installed).
