I debugged the edm with gdb. Here is what it said:

I noticed that EDM would not always crash. Most common (the only crash
I've noticed) was if using a panel that has X-Y graph and uses Plot mode
'plot last n pts', with at least 8 points. The crash does not occur if
Plot mode is set to 'plot n pts & stop'. Also no crash if number of pts
is lower that 8 (in any Plot mode).
