I was able to get MEDM compiled using
openmotif-devel-2.3.0-0.1.9.3.fc6.ccrma
openmotif-2.3.0-0.1.9.3.fc6.ccrma
This is essentially the same version that
Bob Soliday mentioned in a separate e-mail. I believe that the –devel
rpm is needed to compile as this provides the header files but is not needed on
a machine that will simply run the compiled code.
I got EDM compiled although it is not
fully tested. I did find that I had to get past some version of EDM to
achieve this. My solution at the time was to grab the latest from the
ORNL web page.

Emamanuel,
Are you missing openmotif? Fedora Core 6 removed
openmotif, and does not include it. Fedora Core 5 was supposed to be the
last Fedora openmotif.
I took openmotif from Fedora Core 5 and used
"rpm" to install "openmotif-2.3.0-0.1.9.2.i386.rpm" which
is all that should be needed. I also installed
"openmotif-devel-2.3.0-0.1.9.2.i386.rpm" although it should not be
needed.
An alternative would be to get openmotif.xxxxx.tar.gz
and compile and install it, if your prefer.

Subject: medm, edm, other on fc6
Hello,
I am having a few difficulties compiling medm specifically on fedora
core 6. First I had to install the lesstif-devel to get missing header
files, then I change my CONFIG_SITE.linux-x86.linux86 and customize it
to my platform, then when I compile and I get conflicting definition for
_XmDrawShadow which is declared as extern in /usr/include/Xm/XmDraw.h
and in .../medm/xc/Matrix.c. As a result, Matrix.c doesn't compile.
Bummer! Has anyone experienced this problem?
I tried to compile edm in place of medm.
Again I hit roadblocks on fc6.
I did not investigate the reason in depth.
But is there anything that I can use to visualize me PV on fc6 (i.e.
that is straight forward to compile) ?
I also remember reading a thread related to Motif support in future
linux versions. If I remember correctly motif was not going to be
supported any more. Is that true?
