thank you very much for your help. After adding the lines manually to the file 
edmObjects the Objects "Byte", "Textupdate", "RegTextupdate" and "Textentry" 
are available, though  
edm -show /home/LLRF/EPICS/extensions/lib/linux-386/libPV.so  
gives the following output: 
 
Edm component file is /home/LLRF/EPICS/extensions/src/edm/setup/edmObjects 
 
Author name not registered 
 
Library contains no edm components
