Hi Nick,
I am ordering 2 TetrAMM units today. The one unit that is already at the APS went into service on the IMCA beamline last week. It is running under vxWorks, rather than under Linux which is what I did my testing with. We have found a problem where the communication has gotten out of sync after 8 hours or so.
The unit can send its data either in ASCII or binary. My driver currently only supports binary, because ASCII is significantly slower. ASCII should not be a problem, because there is a terminator after every reading.
Binary is sent as N IEEE doubles (N=1,2,4 depending on number of channels in use) followed by a NaN. So the NaN can be used as a terminator, and if not found where expected can be used to determine that the unit needs to be resynchronized. My driver does not do that yet, because I did not run into any problems in testing, and could not test any fixes. Now that we can generate the problem I will fix the driver. I will also add support for ASCII mode, as Kaz Gofron at NSLS-II has recently done for the CAENels AH-501D model.
I think that apart from this communication glitch the unit is working well for them.
Mark

Subject: CAENels TetraMM Quad picoammeter
We are looking to replace our old standard for quad pico-ammeters with a digitising, Ethernet attached equivalent.
Does anybody have any experience or recommendations? We are particularly interested in the CAENels TetraMM http://www.caenels.com/products/tetramm/ for since it is a commercial product for which Mark has written a driver in the quadEM package.
Cheers,
Nick Rees
