There are several errors in your setup that cause the problems you

reported. Others have identified problems with your extensions

configuration. The first problem is that you have not defined the

EPICS_HOST_ARCH environment variable before you built EPICS base.

Here's what goes into your ~/.bash_aliases file to make this definition:

export EPICS_HOST_ARCH=`/usr/local/epics/base/startup/EpicsHostArch`

Privately, you asked for more assistance in identifying the resources

needed to build EPICS base and MEDM on Ubuntu 11.4 and also asked about

CSS-BOY. Digging through the Ubuntu mirrors today, there is no 11.04

release available (don't know why that is missing) but there are 11.10

versions.

Documentation describing the download, installation, compilations, and

testing steps for recent releases of EPICS base, MEDM, and CSS-BOY on

Ubuntu 11.10 is now available. This includes the additions of Ubuntu

packages and libraries needed after a fresh installation.
