Hello:

If you plan to attend the EPICS meet @ SLAC next week
and are interested in the CSS training on Tuesday,
please note that the agenda has been updated:
https://slacportal.slac.stanford.edu/sites/conf_public/epics_2012_04/Pages/
program.aspx

It is roughly split into
Morning - Using CSS
Afternoon - Setup, configuration, development

Kunal Shroff, Gabriele Carcassi from BNL
and Xihui Chen, Kay Kasemir from ORNL
will be there to guide through the various topics.

All computers will be on the SLAC visitor network.
That's good because it's already there, it "works",
so we don't waste time trying to debug a training network setup.
You'll be on the internet and can read your email, ...

The downside is that you won't be able to read PVs
or archived data from a shared training setup.
There will also be little time to download Java, CSS, maybe Eclipse, ...

To benefit from the training you need to run
CSS and a soft IOC on your own computer.
So please look at
http://ics-web.sns.ornl.gov/kasemir/CSS/Training/
and prepare the suggested computer setup.
For the afternoon you also need Eclipse RCP

and a snapshot of the CSS source code.
Please verify that CSS, the soft IOC, maybe
Eclipse RCP start up OK, because there won't
be much time to look into basic errors like
"No Java found".

If you run into problems during this preparation
for the training, please email me directly.

See you next week!
Kay
