3.79.1 is 11 years old.  3.81 is 5 years old, so it seems reasonable to
have EPICS take advantage of new features it provides.

Hi all,

Several people pointed me to the right direction: make version.

After building version 3.81 for my solaris box everything works. I had 
3.79.1 before (which is by the way the version that comes with Tornado
2.2).

Now everything works.
