Hi Jeffrey,

You definitely cannot have EPICS gather data through the Kepler program. Kepler is not designed to operate as a "server", it is a stand-alone client.

You also cannot use Kepler to configure the Saturn and use EPICS to just collect data.  The EPICS software uses the XIA Handel library, which requires a call to xiaInit().  That does a complete restart of the Saturn, including downloading the firmware and blowing away any existing settings.

However, this should not be a problem.  The EPICS software provides complete control over all settings on the Saturn via the "dxp" record.  So any configuration that you do in Kepler you can do equally well with EPICS.  Is there something specific that you have found that you can do in Kepler and cannot do in EPICS?

Hello, 

                Thanks for helping with my build issues with EPICS. I am currently trying to set up a Radiant Vortex Detector (XIA Saturn backend). I would like to use Kepler software to configure the device and record Data using EPICS. Is it possible to  use the Kepler configuration settings which include values not set in the EPICS DXP config files? Is there a way for me to have EPICS gather data through the Kepler program? And suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
