I created the following EPICS R3.14 Makefile for adl2edl and was then
able to build

it as an extension on solaris-sparc, linux-x86, and darwin-ppc.
TOP = ../..

adl2edl_SRCS =  fonts.cc translator.cc graphic.cc control.cc monitor.cc
