Subject: ArchiveDataServer - signals appear to stop changing after run of update_server cron job

Hi All,

We are running the 08/29/2006 snapshot of the Channel Archiver and currently have the same system archiving and serving data. We've started to notice that every-time the update_server cron job runs and actually has something to update, signals viewed with the Java Archive Viewer appear to stop changing for various amounts of time. If we recreate the affected master_index (remove master_index and indexconfig.xml files from /arch/data; execute /arch/scripts/ update_indices.pl) everything looks normal.

For example, this first screenshot of the archive viewer was taken after the update_server cron job ran at 15:01. Note that normal behavior seems to resume at different times between 15:02 and 15:09.

And the second snapshot of the same data was taken after rebuilding the master_index.

Could this be the result of some problem in our setup or configuration? Any suggestions for avoiding this would be greatly apprecited.

Many thanks,
Devin
