mauro,

what i'm doing for the ebrick is to build an epics application on a host with the native compiler, then copy it to the target
ioc. both host (full blown linux version) and target (stripped down linux version) machines for the most part have the same images,
libraries, etc. i haven't had any incompatibilities between the host and target. i've created my own architecture so as not to confuse it
with linux-x86. i build using 'no share' and 'static' in config_site. here's a link to the ebrick web page. incidentally, the newer ebrick's
have a real-time kernel (2.6.19/w rt patch from osadl) and can boot using a hdd, compact flash, usb stick, and from the network.

In the EPICS wiki-pages there is a document which may give you someone hints:

Hope this helps
Mauro.

We are working on an embedded EPICS IOC deployment but are running into some confusion on what is necessary to build to our target architecture which is ARM running a linux kernel 2.6.x. We have our own cross-compilers that we would like to use and build with but we seem to be running into issue with some post-build executables that need to be run on the target.
Can someone clarify what EPICS binaries are necessary to be deployed to the target to run as a "Soft IOC" standalone? Also, can we cross-compile all we need on our host system yet run fully standalone on the target?
Just to be clear, we are not running as a slave target to a host computer but as a fully standalone embedded host IOC.
Any clarification is deeply appreciated.
