I thought I'd try something else first.

I changed main_standalone.cpp line 13 from 'xmlrpc_abyss.h' to
'xmlrpc_server_abyss.h'.

Things seemed to compile OK (at least, no fatal errors). Got messages
about
'class EngineConfigListener' has virtual functions but non-virtual
destructor,
'class 'ProcessVariableStateListener' has virtual functions but
non-virtual destructor',
'class 'ProcessVariableValueListener' has virtual functions but
non-virtual destructor', and
'class 'ProcessVariableListener' has virtual functions but non-virtual
destructor'
in a number of places, but successful compilation.

Hi:

The XML-RPC library for C/C++ has been a pain in the eyebrow.
The ChannelArchiver comes with specific versions for Linux
in general as well as OS X _plus_patches_ that allow us to pass a
wider range
of 'double' type values.
Other versions have slightly different APIs and/or include files,
as you see, and that would require changes in the archiver sources.

The fact that xmlrpc-c-config gives an incomplete
"-I$(prefix)/include" looks wrong enough to me
to not even try to make the Gentoo setup to work,
and instead just use the xmlrpc-c-0.9.9.tar.gz
that comes with the archiver sources.
