This occurred to me when I was perusing the manual and Tech talk, two could be used with some kind of addressing. 

I can scrounge up some devices to talk (and some cables) to I will test the addressing. We have beam circulating where we hope to use this as a "spare". Next access will be in March.

Hi Bill,

We also use both the 1014D and 1014.  Although I have not tried it for 
several years, I think your evaluation is pretty accurate ... but one 
can easily replace a 1014D with two 1014s.

By default:
A16 address for the #L0 card is 0x5000
A16 address for the #L1 card is 0x5200

The 1014D covers both address spaces if the base address is set to 
0x5000, thereby servicing #L0 and #L1.

So, if you replace the 101D with two 1014s, you don't even have to 
change your databases.
