One solution is to use IP carriers and Octal Uart boards from SBS. Use can use
the IP slots on the 172 or buy a dumb IP carrier like VIPC 616 from SBS.
WE at APS have extensive use of these for serial communication with devices.
we use the IPAC software with MPF on top.
