To the EPICS community:

We would like to announce the availability for beta testing of
a real-time data correlator package developed at SNS. This package
allows channel access clients to retrieve timestamp synchronized
data from multiple servers. Initial tests have been performed at
the Los Alamos and Oak Ridge National Laboratories.

Those interested in working with this new tool should contact
me at the e-mail or the phone listed below and I will supply
a tar.gz file.

Key features:

o Overall operation of data silo configured by only three
parameters:
	1. The maximum number of seconds between the earliest
	and latest timestamp within a synchronous set.

	2. The maximum number of seconds to wait for a complete
	synchronous set.

	3. The maximum number of missing channels allowed for a
	synchronous set to be completed.

o Allows assignment of channel lifetimes (how long an event is
treated as valid) on a per process variable basis which allows
integration of fast (e.g. per macro pulse) and slow (e.g.
Vacuum readback) data.

o Allows assignment of minimum and maximum thresholds for
scalar and array data values for triggering.

o Implemented as C++ class library over channel access
client library.

o Encapsulates channel access data objects and event handlers.

Contents:

o C++ library and initial documentation (correlator/doc/corrDoc.ps).

o Example C++ application (demo1/).

o Example Tcl/Tk application (demo2/) - supplied by Paul Chu at
SNS (Oak Ridge).

Aloha,
	Peregrine
