Industrial Control System

  We have an instance in the D0 control system where it would be
useful to be able to confirm that the PV name that the user has
supplied to one of our diagnostic programs is actually a particular
record type (say an ai rather than a waveform record, for
instance). I cannot find a field in the record which provides this
information nor does it appear to be available from the CA client.

  Does anyone have a solution for this?
