Are you sure the second crate's bo record is getting processed?
I don't know if you're testing the actual system including the hardware link,
or just simulating the behavior you expect by writing to the second crate's bo
record. If the latter, I'm guessing the second crate's bo record is "I/O Intr"
scanned, so writing to it's VAL field would not cause it to process.

In any case, I'd simplify by deleting the forward links and making CP input
links from the calc record's INPx fields to the bo records' VAL fields.
