If you really do need exactly this behavior, and you don't want
to write custom record or device support, you could make the stringin
record's OVAL field writable (copy $BASE/src/rec/stringinRecord.dbd
to your src directory, delete "special(SPC_NOMOD)" from the OVAL
field's attribute list, and rebuild) and arrange for a stringout
record to write to it (through an NPP link) after the stringin record
processes.
