Dear all,

  I have an application where I want to connect a PP output link (of a
genSub record) to the VAL field of a passive ao record (so I can use the
ao as the external interface rather than having CA clients link directly
to a genSub field; I wanted to avoid a periodically scanned ai).

  This doesn't work. I thought this might be because no records
reference the VAL field in edb.def so I added such a reference with a
default of 0.0, but this caused e2sr to complain:

Warning: Property or port "VAL" does not exist, using default value.

  Should I able to do this? If so, how should I do it?
