Unfortunately, there are NO documents describing the archiver file formats.
My first suggestion is to look at the source code in the following
locations under .../epics/r3.X/share/src/ :
1. epicsH/arChanIO.h
This file provides the most information on the format of binary
archiver files.
2. libCom/arChanIO.c
3. libCom/arAccessLib.c
Look at the "arCFChanWrite" routines
4. epicsH/arAcessLib.h
5. libCom/bfSubr.c
6. epicsH/bfDefs
7. libCom/sydSubrSSF.c
This tells how to read the ascii archive files
8. ar/arCFChanTest.c
This gives an example of how to write data to a binary
format file.
If you are simply interested in reading archived files, it is best done
through the "syd..." routines (not sydCF or sydSSF). This gives the
user access to both types of archiver files using only 1 set of routines.
Good luck,
