Aps_status_temp -- Temporary APS Storage Ring Status List

This list alerts subscribers to status messages from Advanced Photon Source operations. These messages include the storage ring current and status as well as the number of shutters that are opened. Messages are sent out at approximately 5 minute intervals. This list is really set up if you have a pager with a "drop box" feature or if you want to receive the email into a "status" email account for your own purposes. If you don't have an pager with a "drop box" or a "status" email account and you just want to be notified of major events, you probably want the APS Notification List. The messages are short since the intended audience is APS Users who are receiving the messages on mobile devices such as alphanumeric pagers and cell phones. In the US, email can be sent directly to most cell phones. Please contact your cell phone provider to retreive your address. Once you are subscribed, you can log in using your email address and password combination and then turn notification on and off. That way, if you are a repeat APS User, you can simply enable/disable notification when you are running experiments. Subscribing to this list involves an approval process. After you subscribe, an email will be sent to several people within APS involved in APS Operations. One of these staff members will approve the request. You should receive a confirmation message to your email account shortly. Your subscription to this list will expire at the end of the current run or major event. If you want to be added permanently to these notifications, please subscribe to the regular APS Status Notification list. Using Aps_status_temp
Only specific authorized addresses are allowed to post messages that will be sent to all members of this list. Generally, list members are NOT allowed to post messages. Messages from authorized accounts may send email to aps_status_temp@mailman.aps.anl.gov. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to Aps_status_temp
Subscribe to Aps_status_temp by filling out the following form. This is a closed list, which means your subscription will be held for approval. You will be notified of the list moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
