This is happening because the IOCs are not able to talk to each other at all. It’s hard to say why without seeing your configuration and startup script.  But you do need to tell the master what the slave’s IP address is and vice versa. (by setting PartnerIPPublic for both of them in your configuration file).  Not you’ll also have to set config=”master.conf” on the master and config=”slave.conf” on the slave, assuming those are the names of your configuration files.  Usually PartnerPortPublic is set to 9000 and PartnerPortPrivate is set to 9001.  You’ll also need to define PartnerPortPrivate on each of them.  Then assuming the subnet masks are set correctly, you should see an “up” status for both Public and Private Eth.  I suppose this could also happen if you set the timeouts very short.

The RedMonDok_Englisch.doc document from in the docs/rmt/ directory in the distribution should be helpful.

Subject: EPICS IOC Redundancy Configuration

Hi

I am experimenting with EPICS IOC Redundancy, the redundancy code(rmt and cce) has been compiled, and two systems have been configured as Master and Slave.

However, i guess there is an issue with the configuration as when i run the command "rmtState" to check the status of these Systems, i get

the following output on both systems(Master and Slave):

RMT Local State=Master Remote State=Unknown

Public Eth (socket=0 down), Private Eth (socket=0 down), Global Eth (down)

Local drv (running=0 failed=0)

Remore drv are not in sync

Can anyone put some light on the issue and any possible solutions?

Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Best Regards

M.S
