Yes, the script API was never guaranteed to remain stable, and certainly not when moving to a totally different tool.

from org.csstudio.display.builder.runtime.script import ScriptUtil
lz = ScriptUtil.findWidgetByName(widget, "my_label")

Hi
This simple jython code use to work in OPI:
    >>> lz=display.getWidget("my_label")
but not in my new Builder version of CSS.. (CSS 4.5 running Mint 18.2)

I get
    >>> NameError: name 'display' is not defined
