Interesting.
I tried 3.15.5 and 3.16.1, and had the same behavior. But the -F works as it should be.
Weird...

Hi Guobao,

I just did a quick test here using RHEL7 and EPICS Base R3.15.5 and my output looks normal...

slepicka@ioc-tst-12 ~ $ cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.3 (Maipo)

slepicka@ioc-tst-12 ~ $ caget TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX
TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX        1.67902e+10

slepicka@ioc-tst-12 ~ $ caget -F '|' TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX
TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX|1.67902e+10

slepicka@ioc-tst-12 ~ $ caget -F '' TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX
TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX1.67902e+10

slepicka@ioc-tst-12 ~ $ caget -F '$' TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX
TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX$1.67902e+10

slepicka@ioc-tst-12 ~ $ caget -F '$$$' TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX
TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX$1.67902e+10

slepicka@ioc-tst-12 ~ $ caget TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX
TST:IOC:FLIR:01:MEM_MAX        1.67902e+10

Cheers,
Hugo

You shouldn't have to.  The default should be the same as:

Can you try this just to be certain?

I'm wondering if this might be something to do with your terminal font.
