You could have a device that operates in several modes with different DRV*. If HOP* were always the same as DRV*, a display manager that didn't monitor HOP* would require the user to close and reopen the display when changing modes.

I understand that for the ao (Analog Output) record, the HOPR and LOPR fields are used for the display limits and the DRVH and DRVL fields are used for the control limits. However, I always end up setting HOPR = DRVH and LOPR = DRVL. What's a use case where the display limits would be different from the control limits (i.e., HOPR != DRVH or LOPR != DRVL)? Thanks! Lewis
