We don't have any hooks in the data retrieval process (I think that's what you are asking for). You could add an external server that did this; the API for an external server is a couple of HTTP calls but it may be significantly simpler to do this at the
client end.
As a new feature it might not be too hard to support slices - EBT-SOMESTUFF:BAR[1], EBT-SOMESTUFF:BAR[0:5], EBT-SOMESTUFF:BAR[-1] etc. Please let me know if this would have served your purpose and we can add it in.
