Thanks for the help.

I am attempting to switch to 3.16 because I thought I read somewhere,

though I don't recall where, that the string length limit

is eliminated here. With asyn/streamdevice, I'm attempting to read a

long string from an Oxford Instruments Mercury iTC. Is

the limit removed in 3.15?

In answer to Mark's original question, with 3.16.0.1 (which I'll not

use, but it may be useful information), I did not see

any asyn commands listed when I typed help at the iocsh prompt, and I

did include asyn.dbd.

Andrew, come to think of it, it would be really great to include a
paragraph about the versioning and its meaning, the available series
and their meanings, and which series is recommended for which people
under which conditions--something like the above and in the referenced
Tech-Talk email--in a paragraph in the Versions section at:

   http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/base/index.php
