Hi,

The optics module does contain an iocBoot directory, and the src/ directory does contain an opticsMain.cpp. However, the src/Makefile does not actually build a test application with opticsMain.cpp.

iocBoot/iocAny/st.cmd contains the lines:

dbLoadDatabase("../../dbd/iocxxxLinux.dbd")
iocxxxLinux_registerRecordDeviceDriver(pdbbase)

This looks like perhaps an example intended to be used in the synApps xxx module.

In any event, you will need to build a test application outside of the optic module. You could use the synApps xxx module, or you could create your own.

Mark

Subject: an easy quesiton about optics

Hi all,
I use synApps(5.8) and Epics(3.14.15.3) for coupls of months and still puzzle sometime. Now I am studying the motor and optics module.
I try to use the optics to control the monochromator. I intend to start up the st.cmd in $(optics)/iocBoot/iocAny with the command : " ../../bin/linux-x86_x64/.... " just like motor module.
But I found the optics module did not have the /bin file and I make it with no error, so I could not use the command "../../bin/linux-x86_64".
I wonder how could I use the optics module?

Thanks,
Li xing
