That beauty of s7nodave is definitely appealing but I have one major problem with it.
It is effectively a "wiresharked" proprietary Siemens protocol with very unknown support in future and moreover very prone to problems anytime Siemens upgrades anything in their software.

Hello,

to me the beauty of the s7nodave device support is that you neither need TIA nor any modifications on your PLC.
We use s7nodave to access S7 300 PLCs which have been programmed by a 3rd party and which we don't even have the TIA files for.

I have no experience with the 3.15 series of EPICS base, but with
R3.14.12 I could make s7nodave work as described in [1]. Also notice the hints concerning S7 300 PLCs given on that page.
