Hello,
I'm interested in interfacing EPICS on Win7 with CAN bus components that are connected to an IP module at a remote facility.
On my last visit to this facility, I set up a test stand that had my Win7 laptop connected to a switch, with a single IP module also connected. This IP module had a digital input module, digital output module, and analog output module connected in series
to it. The digital input module had a rotary switch attached to one channel, the digital output module had two lights (red and green) in different channels, and the analog output had an analog display in one channel. Using some proprietary software from perhaps
20 years ago (was running on a WinXP machine, copied to my Win7 laptop without problems) I was able to view the digital input and control both the outputs. I captured the TCP packets ("ETHCAN") sent from this software used for sending and receiving these signals.
On my Win7 laptop, I attempted to compile and use the IPAC/Tip810 driver found at https://svn.aps.anl.gov/trac/epics/ipac to communicate with the components. I know it was designed for VxWorks, but I successfully compiled on Win7 and the IOC elements seemed
to load fine, except I kept getting a "bad CAN address" message on the initialization phase.
Given this information, does anyone have any suggestions on implementing this or another driver that would work with "CANbus" DTYP IOCs on a Win7 machine?
Thanks in advance,
Austin Grelle
