Small comment:

I would suggest to *never* put the IOC name into a record name.
Which IOC a specific PV is served from is an implementation detail that is irrelevant to the user/client and should not be exposed.

Consider that you have to move the record to a different IOC, e.g. because you split up an IOC after it hits some resource limits.
Will you be renaming all PVs as you move them? Will you keep the names that are now misleading? This is a recipe for trouble.

BTW: The same applies to putting the record type (ai, bi, ...) into the record name. If you ever want to change the implementation (e.g. use a mbbi instead of a bi because you define additional states), your names will be wrong or have to be changed.

Just my 2cts...

Hi

What if you create a scheme for PVs naming which will include information about system and device ?
Something like naming convention for PVs, e.g.:

$(SYSTEM)-$(DEVICE)-$(IOC):Current_Setpoint
where:
SYSTEM=MAGNETS2
DEVICE=PSU
IOC=POW-CNTRL

So you don't have to program extra stuff to EPICS/CA applications.

Předmět: question about archive

Hi, everyone

       I have a question about Archive. In CSS, I select Archive Search then I can see a table including "PV Name" and "Name" . But some CSS user in our team want to see the device name which the "PV Name"  belongs to. I know that the  "PV Name" list is from a XML file. How can I add one column in the XML file or can I do some special setting in the CSS to realize 3 columns dispay in the  Archive Search panel?
