Hi Phil,
createParam is documented here:
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/modules/soft/asyn/R4-28/asynDoxygenHTML/classasyn_port_driver.html#a18575123378b3bc7f749535ccd7aa8d9
createParam is in fact a public member of the asynPortDriver base class.
However, that documentation does not answer your question. The answer is yes, the indices returned by createParam will be sequential and it is safe to assume that behavior.
Mark
Hi all,
There seems to be an implicit assumption (at least in the areaDetector drivers I've looked at) that the indices returned by calls to createParam will be sequential. (To test whether a parameter 'belongs' to a driver, its index is tested to see if it lies in
the range [index returned by first call, index returned by final call] inclusive.
createParam is not documented as far as I can tell ("it's not a public member of the class"), so is it safe to assume this behaviour?
Thanks
Phil
