Could you not configure an archiver to archive the data? It’s then stored in a database and can be viewed by the archiver viewer or CSS or it can be accessed via RPC. What data types are you dealing with, and are they all EPICS pvs, or a mix of data sources? At what data rates do you want to capture the data?

Under what conditions do you want to store the data to hard disk?  One common situation is where one is doing a “scan”, moving a positioner like a motor and reading a detector.  One wants to save the data for the scan to disk.

The synApps “sscan” module has good tools for doing this.  The “sscan” record executes the scan, and the “saveData” utility saves the scan data to disk.  It can save the positioner and detector data, as well as any number of other EPICS PV (metadata).  There are utilities in Python and IDL to read and display the resulting scan files, and to convert them from XDR binary format to ASCII.

Subject: store data to hard disk

Hi everyone,
I have been racking my brains, please do me a favor. Thank you!
My purpose:  I have to store all the “motor positon“ and “detector reading“ during experiment to hard disk. (I could read them out, could not store them.)

My quesiton:  Could you pleaese tell me a way about how to achieve it, except the CSS compile.

I am not good at eclipse and java, about how to complie the CSS source code. Though I spent several weeks, endless error.
So I do think it is not suit for me.

I use Scientific  linux6, epics 3.14.12.1, CSS 4.1.0 SNS Office

Thank you so much,
Li, xing
