Hi Xinyu,

We never made the switch since we've been working mostly with 4.x.

You've probably done some of this already, but I guess you need to see if you can isolate smaller parts of functionality before profiling. That is, if you can simplify some of your complex screens while retaining the performance difference, you might be able to pinpoint whether e.g. python scripts are slower or linking containers are slower.

Otherwise you're trying to answer a pretty big question in one go.

Cheers,
Will

Subject: cs-studio 4.x BOY performance problem

Hi,

We have been using cs-studio 3.3 for ages, and finally made progress to move to cs-studio 4.x. However, we found the opi screens to be much slower in 4.x compare to 3.x, as well as a much higher CPY usage. Our OPI screens are relatively complicated, with linking containers and javascript and python scripts. But they were reasonable with cs-studio 3.x.

I’m just wondering:
1. has anyone else experienced similar problems with 4.x
2. I’m planning on doing profiling, just wondering where to concentrate on, PVManager or scripting?

Thanks,

Xinyu WU
