Emmanuel,

The mouse focus method for slider control worked with
caQtDM version 3.8.5. That is, version 3.8.5 allows you to
select the slider using the left click mouse button, thereby
by holding down the left mouse button, you can move the
slider from any point on the desktop.

Ok, I understand now.
There are 2 ways to implement this: (1) with a contextual menu, (2) by catching the right mouse click and opening a 'live' dialog.
If I remember correctly, MEDM and EDM use the 2nd approach.
This obviously requires to rework the widget either by subclassing or by modifying it directly.
If you decide to subclass the widget, you will also have to create a plugin to be able to drag and drop your new widget in designer.
I will look in what I can do to help.

You should know that historically the QEFramework (the Australian flavored EPICS Qt) was not intended to reproduce legacy software such as M/EDM.
But caQtDM was. This explains the differences in behavior you are seeing.

Sorry for the confusion. We generally use the slider in this fashion: give focus to slider by placing mouse pointer over it, then use the keyboard arrow keys to adjust the value up/down. Right click on the slider allows adjustment of the increment, where the increment is the amount the keyboard key press or a click on the slider will change the value by.
